The launch of the first Manchester store was the first and last time we featured ugg Australia on Body Confidential. However, the sheepskin shoes took quite a bashing from the anti-Ugg crusaders whose comments included:
“If you can sell a furry welly for £140 in an economic crisis then very well done.”
“I thought Crocs were ugly until I saw Uggs!”
“Vile footwear for wannabe WAGs.”
“UGG, AKA Ugly – why, oh why would anyone in their right mind buy these glorified slippers?”
Fashion Collection
UGG made their classic boots a fashion must-have of the early 2000s. They’ve now been inspired by other catwalk trends for their 2010 collection. From clogs to equestrian, the new fashion UGGS are certainly cut from a different cloth to that of the cumbersome classics.
Casual Collection
This is the more practical collection, but UGG haven’t slipped up on style. Haute couture hiking boots anyone?
Weather Collection
Original UGG lovers will know the only downside is when it rains. Classic UGGs can end up sopping. With this inconvenience in mind, UGG has created a welly toe cap design for all-weather wear. Weather proof on the outside, but still cosy on the inside, just how we like ‘em.
Still, it’s inevitable that as summer fades prematurely, thousands of those ‘furry wellies’ will adorn the city’s streets – whether you like it or not.
The good news for those still uncertain of UGGs is that this year UGG has acknowledged that some shoppers find the bulky, moon boot style distasteful. Hurrah.
Put the image of classic UGGs and all the associated negative connotations to the back of your mind for a moment and instead take a look at these beautifully crafted pieces of footwear UGG have launched for Autumn/Winter 2010. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised…
Sneaker Collection
These are like Converse with comfort. They come in a range of colours and interesting materials such as boiled wool and cotton flannel.
Slipper Collection
“I thought UGGs were slippers?” is what some might say. The soft, fluffy appearance of the classic collection makes them as wearable inside as outside, but your white carpets may beg to differ. UGG has special slippers to solve this problem.
Infant and Kids Collection
Even if you still hate all UGGs for adults, you can’t dispute the fact that kids in UGGs look very cute. The ranges come in a rainbow’s worth of colours that kids will love.
