Ten years ago, back to the high school I was invited as the hostess at the prom dancing. Every one was dressed to some different extent. We had this new tradition of writing notes contain the words that one wanted to say to the boy or girl that had crush on, but never said that out loud in public. It was exciting, the screaming, the laughter…

Johnny was a very homely guy with ordinary academic performance. According to my knowledge he got refused every time when he tried his luck. As I read the notes, girls and boys off the stage were having great fun, while Johnny was quiet at the dim corner; I noticed that he looked somewhat disappointed. He was not the popular guy around here; others were smarter and more handsome that he was. I took the advantage and did something I would be proud of. When it came to the last note I said the following words:

Johnny, you are so special, I have been noticing you since the other day you were wearing the ugg boots, and I could not imagine you have this fantastic taste. I have never seen anyone as cool as you in my life. I tried to ask you out but I did not have enough courage, I figured the girl that suits you most will come along.

As I uttered the last word these all stood there started to cheer as if I did something honorable. Johnny became active and seemed full of confidence. He was a good dancer and had some great moves, how could no body notice this before?

The king and the queen were no longer the center attention of the party. People began to talk about the guy with the great taste. A few years later I got a wedding invitation from him, asking me to write a little for the most important occasion. As I got there I could not believe what I saw with my own eyes. It was a beautiful wedding. I was told that Johnny was running his own business and just purchased a new apartment in the east high area. They couple would soon move into their love nest.

He took the occasion to thank me, for rebuilding his confidence. Without that nothing of this would have happened. I was filled with mixed feelings; I did not know what to say in return, and just gave my best wishes.
